  LiMnPO4,LiMn0.8Fe0.2PO4 and LiMn0.8Fe0.19Mg0.01PO4 nanorods as high performance cathode materials for lithium ion batteries have been synthesized via a simple solvothermal process in water-ethanol solvent.The samples with cation substitutions show a crystal lattice shrink and a decrease of the volume change between the lithiated and delithiated phases due to the smaller ionic radii of Mg2+ and Fe2+.
