Objective: The purpose of this study was conducted to compare and evaluate the clinical result of alveolar bone distraction osteogenesis (ABDO) and onlay bone graft (OBG) in vertical augmentation of the alveolar bone and of dental implants.Patients and Methods: Medical records and radiographs were reviewed.Twenty-four patients received the vertical alveolar distraction using intraoral alveolar distraction device and implant installation on 27 areas (4 maxillas and 23 mandibles) were classified as ABDO group.Thirty-one patients received autogenous block bone graft and implant installation on 34 areas (23 maxillas and 11 mandibles) were classified as OBG group.The number of installed dental implant was 98 in ABDO group and 73 in OBG group, respectively.The augmented bone and implants were evaluated clinically and radiographically.
