Health professionals have been slow to promote fathers involvement in pregnancy care, beyond presence at birth, despite research demonstrating the benefits of father involvement for both mothers and child.Data are taken from a longitudinal, qualitative case study examining factors that promote or inhibit fathers involvement with their children for unmarried, low-income, African American adolescent fathers from the multiple perspectives of their kinship systems.
