In cancer patients, psychological symptoms such as anxiety and depression had a greater effect on Quality of Life (QOL) and distress than disease status and were less frequently treated than physical symptoms.Self-efficacy beliefs refer to peoples appraisal of their abilities to execute a course of action and attain a desired outcome related to a specific situation.Banduras self-efficacy theory (1997) posits that patients who perceive their diagnosis as a threat may or may not act, depending in part, on their efficacy beliefs or perception of "controllability." The presenter is the first author of an instrument developed to measure self-care self-efficacy, Strategies Used by People to Promote Health (SUPPH).The SUPPH has been translated into many languages including Chinese.
