UNC 119, also known as HRG4, is a 27-kDa polypeptide identified in the basal body proteome of C reinhardtii.Recent study shows that UNC 119 promotes the development of asthma, and then we wondered whether UNC 119 plays a role in lung cancer. We retrieved Oncomine Database and found that UNC 119 is commonly highly expressed in lung adenocarcinoma (LAC).Then we detected the mRNA level of UNC119 in 23 pairs of lung adenocarcinoma and adjacent normal tissues and found that UNC 119 was overexpressed in malignant tissues. The highly expressed UNC 119 in malignant tissues remind us to explore the functions of which in the lung adenocarcioma.Further both loss-and gain-function experiments in LAC cell lines suggest that UNC 119 elevates LAC cell viability and promotes cell proliferation. The above findings indicate that UNC 119 is involved in the promotion of LAC growth and it may function as a novel promoter in LAC progression.
