Objective: To deduce the channel candidates for the mechano-electrical transduction in the baroreceptor, the effects of amiloride, benzamil, Gd3+, ruthenium red, curare and Ca2+ on the activity of rabbit carotid sinus baroreceptors were investigated. Methods: The pressure in the rabbit carotid sinus in vitro was controlled by a computer-controlled electrical proportional regulating valve. The carotid sinus nerve discharge (CSND) and intrasinus pressure was recorded simultaneously. The effects of above chemicals on the baroreceptor discharge were investigated.
