智障儿童在生长发育过程中由于受到生理、社会、家庭等不利因素的影响,其身心发展的各个方面都要落后于正常儿童。智障儿童在智力、适应、语言、体能、情绪、行为等方面都存在程度不同的缺陷,因此,重视对他们德、智、体、美、劳教育的同时,更要重视智障儿童身心功能的康复,它是智障儿童各种能力顺利发展的基础,根据智障儿童的需要来对他们进行康复教育是非常有必要的。
