1989年过去了。这是我们党和共和国的历史上很不平常的一年。这一年,我们的党和国家,经历了生死存亡的严峻考验,经过制止动乱和平息反革命暴乱的战斗洗礼,冷静地总结过去,思考未来,发扬成绩,弥补不足,纠正失误,显得更加成熟。可以肯定,我们今后的步子会迈得更稳、更好,甚至更快。这一年,我们党在取得制止动乱和平息反革命暴乱的胜利之后,相继胜利召开了十三届四中全会和五中全会,在历史的紧急关头解决了政治和经济问题,为国家的长治久安和经济的持续稳定协调发展,提供了保证。以江泽民同志为核心的新的中央领导集体,在如此短的时间里,稳妥地处理了如此复杂的一系列国内国际重大问题,党心民心为之一振。虽然现在我们还有困难,甚至是严重的困难,但是,这是前进中的困难,是正在克服中的困难。
