《屈原列传》中有这么一句:“人君无愚、智、贤、不肖,莫不欲求忠以自为,举贤以自佐。”对其中“自为”的解释。大致有两种:一是“自己做好国君”(见课文注释),一是“为自己打算”(见于在春《文言散文的普通话翻译》)。我以为这两种理解都是可以商榷的。从句子的结构看,“求忠以自为,举贤以自佐”是“欲”的宾语。它们是互文,不仅字数相等,而且结构相同,词义相关。“求忠”与“举
In Qu Yuan’s Biography, there is such a sentence: “The man is not ignorant, intelligent, virtuous, unworthy, and does not want to seek loyalty to be self-respecting.
