The importance of cisplatin in cancer treatment has been gradually recognized by people. Its toxic effects include renal toxicity, gastrointestinal toxicity, bone marrow suppression, neurotoxicity and allergy. Cisplatin’s hepatotoxicity is rare, and mild and transient aspartate aminotransferase and alanine transaminase elevations are seen in most cases. Albumin is synthesized in the liver. The authors have performed several measurements of serum albumin in patients receiving cisplatin therapy, and therefore studied the relationship between intrahepatic platinum levels and serum albumin reduction.
