Introduction The multimodal transport industry is inherently complicated. The very nature of the business makes it so. Internationally, it has developed very rapidly, and is continuing to do so. Domestically, China has made a good start with Shanghai, Guangzhou and Dalian as its multimodal transport hubs. For all that the UN Convention on International Multimodal Transport of Goods was adopted in 1980, this Convention has not yet come into force up still today. For the sake of promoting China's multimodal transport industry, China's “Administration Regulations” for the multimodal transport of internationally standardized (i. e., ISO) containers was promulgated on March 14, 1997 and put into force on October 1, 1997. Since then, people have regulations to abide by in China's multimodal transport of containers.
