By overcoming the boundary of life and death, “a rose for Emily” shows a strong ethical connotation and deep concern for the world of human values. The existence of man is both spiritual and physical, and spiritually superior to the flesh. Although Emily lives in the present, her world of value and ethics always point to the passing away, and the divisions of human nature determine the tragedy. In the meantime, in the novel, those who should have rest in peace, have repeatedly borrowed their bodies and returned to their spirits, demonstrating tremendous vitality. Through the border between life and death, Faulkner is full of compassion, giving Emily a sympathetic flower and inspiring almost every reader to transcend life and death and face man directly Therefore, in our opinion, Faulkner is not only the pride of the South but also the treasure of mankind.
