众所周知,德育工作是教育工作的重中之重。古今中外,任何国家、任何阶级在摆放教育功能时,都无一例外地把德育放在首位。德育工作也是关系到一个国家和民族前途和命运的一项战略任务。这足以证明,在教育领域里,德育是何等重要。
然而,当前在教育领域里,很多教师在教学上只重视如何向学生传授文化知识而忽略了对学生进行德育方面的教育和教导。有些教师甚至认为德育只是政治教师、班主任以及学校政教处主任的工作。本人认为,作为教育工作者,只教书而不育人是工作失职的一种表现,是和我国教育方针政策相悖的一种行为。这样的教师是不合格的。
作为中学英语老师,在教学过程中除了要对学生进行听、说、读、写、基本常规训练,培养他们运用英语的能力之外,还应该时刻注意把思想品德、文明礼貌及爱国主义等有机地渗透到英语教学活动中去,这样才能使学生既学到了英语,又在德育方面得到了教育,才符合我国教育方针所提出的目标和要求。下面谈谈本人在这方面的一些经验及做法:
一、认真钻研和分析中学英语教材中有关德育题材,领会教材内含的思想性
中学英语教材的思想性是较强的,几乎每个单元都含有某个方面的德育内容。在此,教师在备课时要认真钻研教材,找出教材中所包含的德育因素,然后统筹安排,对教学环节、过程、形式、方法进行周密的计划和设计,以便在实施过程中能做到有的放矢、不脱离教材。本人对高中英语、新课标教材中内含的认识和体会如下表所示(仅列部分):
二、采取有效方式,耳濡目染,潜移默化,在课堂上巧妙地把德育渗入语言学习活动之中
英语是一门语言课,也是一门实践课。因此,要在传授知识、训练技能的过程中“渗透”、“感染”,实现思想品德教育过程。但方法要得当,内容不要过多,要符合本课教学内容特点。
1、在词汇与句型教学中,老师要有意识地给学生提供一些思想性较强的例句,让学生进行英汉互译练习,或者老师用英语念出句子,让学生听后说出其汉语意思。老师可根据例句特点适当扩展,将德育渗透到教学活动中去。如以下例句所示(例句中划线部分为本课堂要求掌握的重点词组或句型):
The Great Wall of China is regarded as one of the few man-made objects in the world.We are proud of it.
Comrade Lei Feng served the people heart and soul all his life. He will always be remembered by the people. We should learn from him.
Teacher: What should we do if we see someone is in trouble?
Students: We should help him.(We should give him a hand.)
Teacher: You are quite right. In our daily life, everyone needs help. If you help someone this time, next time someone will come to help you when you need help. He who helps others help himself.
2、在语法教学中根据该语法特点也可将德育渗透到学习活动中去。例如:在学习名词性从句“It is well known/ It is known to all+that”从句时,老师先对该句子进行语法结构分析,让学生观察、理解该语法概念及特点,然后向学生提供大量的含有德育意义的例句,进行一些巩固性练习,可达到一箭双雕的目的和效果。下面仅举两例句子:
(1)It is well known that is only one China in the world. Taiwan is only part of China, we won’t allow Taiwan break away from the People’s Republic of China.(台湾是中华人民共和国的一部分,坚决反对任何分裂祖国的丑恶行径。)
(2)It is well known that the Japanese invaders killed millions of Chinese during the Second World War. We won’t forget those days. (不要忘记国仇家恨。)
3、抓住课本中的警句或提供一些简单易懂、富有教育意义且适合教材内容特点的至理名言或者谚语对学生进行德育教育并指导他们的行动。例如在对学生进行人生观教育时,我引用了爱迪生的一句名言“The true value of life is not in what we get, but in what we give”以及谚语“We eat to live,but not live to eat”教育他们;当学生遇到学习上、生活上的困难而丧失信心时,就用居里夫人的至理名言“Life is not easy for any of us. We must work, and above all we must believe in ourselves. We must believe that each of us is able to do something well, and that, when we discover what this something is, we must work until we succeed. ”去劝说和鼓励他们。
三、结合当时社会形势及本身生活经历将德育溶入语言学习中
当前在市场经济浪潮的冲击下,很多人崇拜金钱,千方百计甚至置国法于不顾地去捞钱。“一切向钱看”这股歪风已吹进了校园。很多学生和家长受到影响,认为与其在校学那些没有多大用处的课本,倒不如趁年轻到外面去打工挣钱。针对这种情况,我在某一堂课上结合教材所含的德育内容给学生提供了我从某刊物记下来的这段警句:What will money buy? Money will buy a bed but not sleep; books but not knowledge; food but not appetite; finery but not beauty; a house but not a home; medicine but not a health; luxuries but not culture; amusements but not heaven.
我将这段话写在黑板上,让学生查阅里面的生词,看懂意思后,然后作如下归纳性及问答式的总结:From this passage we can learn that money is necessary. Money can buy many things, but it can’t buy everything. Money can抰 buy knowledge, but knowledge can produce money. Knowledge is the most important and useful thing. Knowledge is power. How can we get more knowledge? Only by studying hard can we get more knowledge. Knowledge can make our hometown, our country become richer and more beautiful.
又如:学生们对社会上的一些不正之风以及党员干部出现的一些贪污腐败现象深恶痛绝,因此有些学生对党和干部一概否定,这会影响党在他们心中的形象。我就用自己亲身经历的一件事教育引导学生:某周六傍晚,我骑自行车去郊游回来,半路上自行车的刹车突然失灵,我猝不及防,连人带车翻下公路,多处受伤,动弹不得。当时县政府的杨主任刚好路过,见此情况,马上和司机将我送到医院,并且帮我办好住院手续。这是一个进行德育教育的好题材和好机会,不久我就在一堂公开课上结合教材内容用英语生动地讲述了这件事情的经过。学生们(包括听课的老师们)听后很受教育。当时我问了这样一个问题:What do you think of the story? 以下是来自同学们的回答:Very moving. I used to think that most of the leaders were selfish. They seldom thought of the ordinary persons. But now I know I am wrong. Most of our party members are very good and kind-hearted. I think we should follow the Party’s instructions. We should learn from Comrade Yang. 通过这种教育方式,能使学生在学到文化知识的同时,思想也受到感染,起到了潜移默化的育人作用。
本文只是本人对教育工作的一些认识体会和做法。这种教学手段从实践上确实收到了一定的效果,但在某些环节上还需要在以后的教学工作中去探讨和完善。
