A group of researchers at Scranton University in Pennsylvania analyzed the phenolic content of various fruits, which have shown significant protective effects on the human body. According to grams and number of copies cranberry has the highest level of antioxidant phenolics among the 10 tested fruits. The other nine fruits with higher phenol levels were: pears, red grapes, apples, cherries, strawberries, watermelons, blackcurrant, banana and green grapes. Although fresh fruit tests best, dried fruits can also provide a significant amount of antioxidants. The importance of this research is that it is the first time that various fruits have been compared and ranked.
