Peace efforts will continue to fail until people embrace the oneness and unity of humanity. Living in a world where the youth are often ignored and women are regarded as second best, it soothes the soul knowing there are individuals who recognize and defend the equality each human being needs. The youth of today, including myself, face the challenge of properly educating ourselves on the Culture of Peace because the world around us uses war, and not peace, to resolve the world’s problems. Why is it so difficult to promote respect for the rights of all humans and the Earth? We are responsible for our leaders and what they perpetuate. In order to change, we have to remember what it means to ensure equality not only for ourselves as individuals, but for the youth and women around the world. It is important to foster participation in everything as well as supporting communication and the free flow of information and knowledge internationally.
只有接受全人类的统一性和团结，和平的努力才不会失败。生活在一个青年被忽视、妇女总是屈居第二的世界里，知悉有人承认和捍卫人人都需要的平等，我们的心灵能得到抚慰。今天的青年，包括我自己，面临着这样的挑战：关于和平文化的适当自我教育。因为我们的周围在运用武力而非和平来解决世界上的问题。为什么促进人类尊重人与地球的权利这么艰难？我们对自己的领导者以及他们持有的信念也负有责任。要做出改变，我们必须铭记确保不仅我们个人，还有全球的青年和妇女的平等意味着什么。重要的是要培养国际化的参与性、支持沟通以及信息知识的自由流通。
One of the easiest ways we can build real peace is by befriending others, even if it is hard and slow at first. A possibility and clear example is the way women in North and South Korea come together in “healing camps.” When we teach ourselves to come together in intrigue, healing, and dialogue, we build the opportunity to grow in hopes of economic and political unification. This promotes constant, free-flowing communication. It’s incredible how quickly today’s youth is capable of befriending someone else. It has virtually skyrocketed with the aid of social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Using these tools as a means of quickly, effectively, and peacefully sharing world ideas and solutions, results in less marginalization and greater solidarity.
共铸和平最简单的方式之一是和其他人结交朋友，即使这种方式最初会艰难而缓慢。一个可能且清晰的例子是朝鲜和韩国的妇女通过《治愈营地》而走到了一起。我们在阴谋、治愈和对话中教育自己走到一起，创造机遇、增加经济和政治统一的希望。这能促进持久的自由沟通。今天的青年能快速与他人结交朋友，这令人难以置信。它借助于如Facebook和Twitter等社会媒体的突飞猛进。运用这些工具快速、有效、和平地分享全世界的想法和解决方案，能减少边缘化、促进更大的团结。
Why don’t we have fair sharing of resources in the world? Fair sharing of resources means collectively and interactively engaging those fortunate enough in order to help those less fortunate. One must understand that to integrate peacefully means understanding every human being belongs to, and is connected into, the web of life. There are humans on this Earth, young children and women around the world, dependent upon all of us who have the power to help them. From my perspective, the time to help make these changes is today. It is up to all generations, present and future ones, to take initiative to promote the culture of peace before it is too late.
对于我们很多人而言，甘地的劝诫“欲变世界，先变其身”对于创建和平文化是意义深远的，因为它真正源于内心。我一旦获得了成就，无论大小，我都会保持平静。和平应该存在于普通人的平凡成就和志向之中，也应存在于共担责任，积极帮助个体和集体转变的社区、社会和政府之中，只有这样，和平文化才能在他们的存在中持续下去。
As a member of New Future Foundation, an NGO with the United Nations ECOSOC consultative status, I am proud to participate and lead initiatives that work towards building the culture of peace, including recently hosting in New York a side event during the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW57) where we explored ways to prevent and eliminate all forms of violence against women.
