该志为青石质,宽六十六厘米,高五十九厘米,楷书,有界格。志文共二十四行,满行二十三字。二○○九年底出土于洛阳西北廿里之邙山。志主王茂,字龙兴,京兆霸陵(今陕西西安东北)人,出身北朝世胄之门。曾祖儒,荧阳太守;祖彪,黑城镇将;父曦,镇南府长史。志主身历北魏中下层官吏,晋迁至赵兴太守,豳、荆二州刺史。志主永安二年(五二九)七月廿二日去世,卒年五十四岁,天平四年(五三七)正月廿五日入窆。
