卫星可将纠缠光子对分发至相距1 200公里的两个城市,这为全球量子通信网络开辟了广阔前景。2016年8月,当潘建伟看到长征火箭从中国酒泉卫星发射中心发射时,他几乎喜极而泣。该火箭搭载的量子科学卫星,是中国科技大学(USTC)潘建伟教授与其同事花了5年时间研制并不断完善的成果。为了获得6.5亿元的项目资金,他花了很多精力游说。当最终看到它离开地面,他说:“简直是一种解脱。”
Satellites can distribute entangled photons to two cities a distance of 1,200 kilometers, opening up vast prospects for global quantum communication networks. In August 2016, when Jian-Wei Pan saw the launch of the Long March rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in China, he almost cried out. The rocket carrying Quantum Science Satellite is a result of five years’ development and continuous improvement by Professor Pan Jianwei and his colleagues at China University of Science and Technology (USTC). In order to obtain 650 million yuan of project funds, he spent a lot of energy lobbying. When it finally saw it off the ground, he said: “It’s a relief.”
