Objective: To understand the status of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency in aquaculture populations and to provide a reference for future use of primacyquine. Methods: Totally 204 permanent residents with high incidence of malaria in aquarium area were randomly selected. Blood samples were collected from 2 to 3 ml of anticoagulant venous blood. G6PD activity screening kit (pure reaction fluorescence method) was used to detect the G6PD deficiency. Results: 38 people were detected G6PD deficiency, the detection rate was 18.63%. Among them, a serious lack of 6 people, the detection rate was 2.94%; 32 mildly deficient, the detection rate was 15.69%. Mild deficient accounted for 84.21% of the total lack of people. Conclusion: G6PD deficiency exists in Sandu residents, and the detection rate of G6PD deficiency is high. It is recommended to screen G6PD before taking primaquine to avoid hemolytic reaction and close follow-up during unconditional screening.
