Results The overall average score of SCL-90 was (1.39 ± 0.36) and the score of GWB was (121.02 ± 12.05). There was a significant difference in happiness among freshmen with different mental health status (F = 454.335, P <0.001) There was a significant negative correlation between overall happiness scores of freshmen in higher vocational education and total score of SCL-90 (r = -0.602, P <0.01), and six factors of depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, hostility, others, anxiety and somatization 37.5% variation of the index. Conclusion The overall level of mental health and well-being of higher vocational college students is higher. The higher the mental health level is, the stronger the sense of happiness.
