A novel reagent of diazepam - 2, 4 - dinitrobenzene (APDNBT) was synthesized and its analytical properties and its color reaction with cadmium were studied. In the presence of TritonX-100, the pKa values of the two-stage proton dissociation constants of the reagent are 0.8 and 10.8, respectively. In the BR buffer solution with pH = 10.2-12.0, the reagent produces a 1: 2 yellow complex with cadmium and shows a fading reaction , The wavelength of the maximum absorbance difference is 540 nm, the apparent molar absorptivity is 1.52 × 10 ~ 5L / (mol.cm), and the linear range is 0 ~ 15μg per 25mL. The method was successfully applied to the determination of trace cadmium .
