志书的功用是与志书的信息量紧密联系在一起的,一般说来,信息量越大,志书的作用就越大。而志书的信息量又是通过翔实、可靠的资料来实现的。地方志书的编写实践告诉我们,光有资料并不一定能有效地提供信息,要采取一些能使二者有效结合起来的手段进行信息搜集。
