  With social and economic progress and development of rail transportation,train station,in the service of transporting passengers,plays an important role in integrating transportation and urban.As rail transportation networks are going even mature,railway stations and subway stations are developing into rail transit hubs.Addition of other functions and scale expansion of rail transit stations bring about the presence of rail transit complex—building complex centered around rail transit hub.The rails,hub nodes of railway system,transfer numerous passengers each day.Such groups will have massive and complicated requirements,so numerous functions of our city will aggregate within the hubs,and service,commerce,culture and entertainment are the most seen.A variety of services and industries in the rail transit complexes are well mingled to form many forms of pedestrian flows.To achieve efficient operation of railway stations,good organization of space and pedestrian flows is of great importance.In academic circle,basic research on hub-type rail transit complexes in China was seen earlier,and the research widely involves selection of station location,general layout,evacuation square,station buildings design,planning of cargo and passenger stations.Design of Buildings in Railway Station released in 1977 conducted analysis and study of railway station design based on its basic transportation function,and establishing commercial functions inside and outside railway stations was not mentioned in this book.Over the thirty years of accumulation and development afterwards,later works articulated rail transit complexes in their function,systematicness and advancement,and gave attentive discuss on commercial development to varied degrees.Since vast majority of the research elaborated outlook of commercial development with stations,and few in-depth study on activities and flows of pedestrians in stations is seen.This paper will study pedestrian distribution and affecting factors concerning rail transit complex,and probe distribution and behavioral traits of pedestrians according to documented materials,on-site survey and tests etc.Exemplified by Milan Central Station,time-space distribution of pedestrians is analyzed to learn space preference of Entry&Exit people and factors affecting pedestrian distribution,thus to provide good data reference for design of rail transit stations.
