A recent study on irradiation response of an Al-free Ti-added 16Cr-ODS ferritic steel by high-energy heavy ions is presented.Specimens were irradiated with 58Ni,20Ne and 16O ions, respectively, with a kinetic energy of 6.17 MeV/u at HIRFL(Heavy-ion Research Facility in Lanzhou). The Ni ion beam was used to produce merely atomic displacements in the specimens, while Ne and O ion beams were used to inject gaseous impurities meanwhile produce atomic displacements in the specimens.By using an energy degrader,a uniform distribution of atomic displacement damage(up to 0.8 dpa)and/or gaseous impurities(up to 240 appm)was produced in the specimens from the near surface to a depth about 30 micro-meters,which is larger by one magnitude than the grain size of the ODS steel and meets the criterion for the test with miniature specimen techniques.
