Objective To explore the Preventive effects of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) on rats with immune complexes nephritis.Methods 30 SD rats were randomized into three groups: the control group, the model group and the MMF group, with 10 rats in each group.The model of immune complexes nephritis was induced by C-BSA.Rats were administrated MMF at a dose of 60mg/(kg · d) which lasted for 8weeks beginning as the pre-immunization started.Body weight, mental status and 24-hour urinary protein of rats were analyzed at different time points.Blood chemistry were detected, kidney hispathological changes and Immunofluorescence test of IgG and C3 were analyzed at sacrifice.Results There was significant reduction of the mean body weight and 24-hour urinary protein of MMF group compared with the model group since the 4th week (P<0.01 或 P<0.05).CHO and BUN of MMF group were reduced, while Alb was increased compared with the model group (P<0.05).MMF could significantly improved the hispathological changes of immune complexes nephritis.The depositions of IgG and C3 were increased in model group compared with MMF group.Conclusions MMF has markedly protective effect on rats with immune complexes nephritis, probably through the inhibition for proliferation of mesangial cell and matrix.
