Sudan as a large country with multiple natural and cultural recourse is in need of such technology.Sudan has deserts in the north and forests in the south are need of such technique.Sudan was among the first three countries of the Third World where the remote sensing was applied in 1970.The establishment of Remote Sensing Centre in Sudan was 1977,it is implemented in 1973 and equipment was completed in 1986 in Faculty of Engineering - University of Khartoum.Applications of the remote sensing techniques have been in several archaeological sites for documentation and scientific research.The first,usage of the technique was in Gailli prehistoric site by the Italian mission (University of Rome).One of the very important results optioned was the change of the course of the Nile during to the east (7000 years BC).The analysis of satellite images leads to discover the Wadi Howar palaeochannel in the Western Sahara by Cologne University mission (Germany).In Dongola region,the use of remote sensing to study the Nile sediments and the palaeolochannels was adopted.After that many missions use the technique in Sudan archaeology.The paper tries,to insure,firstly the history of application of the technique and its usefulness of the in Sudan in archaeological research,administration and protection of Sudan huge heritage in such difficult,barely accessible regions.Secondly,to discuss the outcome drawn from previous works and the future prospects.
