A novel can cause social panic, the power of literature can not be underestimated. As one of the most successful fantasy novels in the West in recent years, “Harry Potter” was favored and sought after by readers. Meanwhile, it also triggered a boycott storm in Anglo-American society. By combing the origin of the history of western fantasy literature, this article points out that the series of Harry Potter novels have exerted the power of their sword, inherited the creative means and creative style of fantasy literature, Capitalist modern economic order and values and anti-Protestant Protestant ethics and ethnic ideas and other elements. On the one hand, the existence of these elements reveals the reason why this novel, which has been extremely successful in popular culture, is excluded in orthodox circles; on the other hand, it also shows that the novel overthrew the foundation of Western modernity.
