引言不良的温度和水分条件使得棉花(Gossypium hirsutum.L)花粉的育性下降,并且引超棉铃的大量脱落。这种不良的环境条件在美国的西南部热沙谷地带以及世界上与其气候相似的地区尤其尖锐,甚至在多雨的棉区也可能出现。手工去雄往往会使棉花花器受伤,从而使杂交棉铃的保持力低于自由授粉的棉铃。有时候花粉供不应求,在这种情况下,育种家和遗传学家为了使每个棉铃得以成熟,必须充分利用有限的花粉反复地进行多次授粉,并经常地清点杂交棉花的结铃数,以保证获得所期望的杂种量。
INTRODUCTION Poor temperature and moisture conditions reduce the fertility of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) pollen and lead to extensive shedding of cotton bolls. Such poor environmental conditions are particularly acute in the hot sand valleys in the southwest of the United States and in parts of the world similar to its climate, even in rainy cotton areas. Manual removal often injures the cotton flower, leaving hybrid cotton bolls with less force than freely pollinated cotton bolls. In some cases, pollen falls short of demand. In this case, breeders and geneticists must make the best use of limited pollen to pollinate repeatedly and regularly check the number of bolls of hybrid cotton in order to mature each boll Guaranteed access to the desired amount of hybrids.
