理工科英语教学中 ,实现语言的交际功能 ,逐步提高外语教学中的文化意识是至关重要的。教师既应培养学生习得语言形式的能力 ,即语言能力 (linquistic competence) ,又要培养他们在社会交际中正确使用这些语言形式的能力 ,即交际能力 (comm unicative com petence)。语言应在文化中教授 ,语言学习应在文化学习中进行。社会文化对语言交际功能的影响是多方面的 ,只有认识到这一点 ,才能够真正掌握英语文化 ,促进外语学习 In English teaching of science and engineering, it is very important to realize the communicative function of language and gradually raise the cultural awareness in foreign language teaching. Teachers should not only cultivate students’ abilities to acquire linguistic forms, namely, linguistic competence, but also develop their ability to use these forms of language properly in social communication, ie, comm unicative com petence. Language should be taught in culture and language learning should be conducted in cultural studies. The impact of social culture on language communicative functions is multifaceted.
