五十年内,热处理炉和热处理方法已从应用可控气氛开始,通过真空技术的发展,而发展到把真空和气氛结合到一只炉子体系中去的真空渗碳方法。进展是从1925年开始的,那时Carl.I Hayes发明了Certrain-Curtain法用于气氛炉,此法需使用一种煤气/空气混合物,以便在电炉形成保护气氛。真空技术在其后不久(1927年)发明了,但由于下述许多原因,直到六十年代中期才开始为热处理所采用: (一)由于工业炉制造者的需要集中在利用放热和吸热气氛,大多数工程和研究时间均致力于这些领域之改进。
Within 50 years, heat treatment furnaces and heat treatment methods have evolved from the application of controlled atmospheres to the vacuum carburizing method of combining vacuum and atmosphere into a furnace system through the development of vacuum technology. Progress began in 1925 when Carl.I Hayes invented the Certrain-Curtain method for an atmospheric furnace, where a gas / air mixture was used to create a protective atmosphere in the electric furnace. Vacuum technology was invented shortly thereafter (1927) but was not used for heat treatment until the mid-1960s for a number of reasons: (a) As the needs of industrial furnace manufacturers have focused on the use of exothermic and endothermic Atmosphere, most engineering and research time are committed to improvement in these areas.
