Since the closure of the ICP at New York City in early 2015 to lower Manhattan, people have been watching how ICPs appear in a new look and the first show after reopening has drawn much attention. On June 23, 2016, ICP not only opened a new pavilion, but also launched an exhibition entitled “Visual Culture,” titled Public, Private and Secret. This exhibition, curated by Charlotte Cotton, the famous British contemporary photography critic as ICP’s first resident curator, immediately aroused intense criticism from all sides. The New York Times published two consecutive articles that gave a positive assessment of the orientation of the new exhibition hall and the first exhibition.
