Foreword The rock mass stress measurement of underground metal mines is to understand the stress state of the original rock, the stress distribution around the mining space and the stress change, so as to select the basic parameters of the economical and reasonable underground structure, and to select a reasonable mining method and an empty field treatment scheme. Safely, efficiently, and as much as possible, recover the country’s underground resources and better serve the cause of socialist construction in the motherland. In the stress measurement of rock mass in mines, the use of two-way photoelastic strain gauges is portable, economical, and simple. It is one of the effective measures for large-scale measurement. With the improvement of the performance of photoelastic materials, laser light source and photoelectric conversion
