Shanghai Jiaotong University announced that the school developed a conventional chemical synthesis method, the world’s first high-performance artificial anti-malarial artemisinin synthesis. Approximately 2.37 billion people worldwide are at risk of malaria infection each year, and nearly 1 million die as a result of lack of effective drug treatment. This achievement has solved artemisinin that has plagued the world’s scientific community and industry for more than 30 years
