Anglo-American film and television works are rich in content and vivid language. As a complement to English learning, English-American film and television works are conducive to improving the English learning environment and stimulating the learning motivation of learners. However, in previous studies, researchers mainly focused on the use of film and television resources as a teaching method in the classroom from the perspective of teachers, while neglecting the use of such resources to improve their English skills. In this research, I interviewed 10 English learners in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, and discussed the differences between the use of video works in classroom teaching and self-study after class, and then made a supplement to the research on the use of such information in English learning. This study will explain the similarities and differences between classroom teaching and extra-curricular self-learning from two aspects: the choice of film and the application of film resources.
