民族學院和民族幹部學校,是目前培養少數民族的普通行政幹部和技術幹部的主要敎育機關。學員來自各地區的不同民族,語言隔閡,文化程度極不齊一。其中有的至今尚無自己的文字,有文字的,一般也缺乏用本民族文字編印的課本和參考書,因而不得不採用或參考漢文書籍。更重要的是目前普遍缺乏本民族師資,大部分課程,須由漢族敎師任敎,而這些漢族敎師又絕大部分不懂民族語文。因此,在民族學院和民族幹部學校的敎學上,對既不懂漢語文,又沒有本民族師資和敎材的學員,必須通過翻譯進行講授。這就使翻譯工作在民族學校教學中占著重要的地位。在敎學中,翻譯工作一般包括筆譯和口譯兩種方式。對必需的敎材和講授
