In the development of aviation gas turbines, a large number of dynamic strain measurements are needed to ensure the durability of the product. Pratt and Whitney Aviation Group recently used a new computer system, as described herein, for the digitization of dynamic strain data. The system features automated, calibrated, labeled information and human-machine contact. Dedicated digital components are used to increase the pass rate, perform fast Fourier transforms, and provide high quality hard copy readings. The program expands to handle other dynamic data including vibration and stress.
