This study explores the specific connotation of the dualistic self-concept of tradition and modernity, and analyzes the intergenerational differences of bicultural self-concept. The study found that self-descriptions of young people and middle-aged and elderly subjects both showed the dual self-concept of self-concept that the traditional social orientation and the modern individual orientation coexist. The modern self-orientation of young people is significantly stronger than the traditional self-orientation of society There is no significant difference between the self-concept of the elder’s traditional society and that of the modern individual; the social orientation of the middle-aged and elderly is significantly stronger than that of the young in the dimension of “blood relationship”; the individual’s orientation of the youth Self is significantly stronger than middle-aged and elderly in the “hobbies” and other dimensions. The research results confirm the objective reality of bicultural self-concept and preliminarily verify the intergenerational differences of individual self-concept in the process of cultural change.
