吴川一中是广东省命名的足球传统项目学校,曾获霍英东体育基金传统项目学校奖。在普教系统中,它的足球成为全国的佼佼者,在全省中学生比赛中,曾夺得了桂冠,在全国中学生“三好杯”赛中,曾获得过第三名。它除了以足球为重点开展广泛的群众体育运动和课余训练之外,其它体育项目也同时紧紧跟上,其中有固定队伍并长期坚持严格训练的,就有足球一队、足球二队、篮球队、田径队和武术队。此外还有一年一度的高考体育考生训练队。近十年来,它为国家输送了一批足球及其他项目的人材,他们分布在省队、解放军队以及体育院校和普通高校,有些已成为优秀运动员或教练员,有些还代表国家出国比赛。 Wuchuan One is a football traditional school named after Guangdong Province and won the Fok Ying Tung Sports Foundation Traditional Project School Award.
