The decay constant of radioactive elements in isotopic geologic age calculations is a very important parameter because of its inconsistency that leads to inconsistent age values for samples with identical isotopic composition. For example, λ ~ (40) K_e = 0.557 × 10 ~ (-10) ~ (-1) and λ ~ (40) K_e = 0.585 × 10 ~ Older than the latter about 5%.
