The year 2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea. During this year, the two countries held many meaningful activities. Although these activities are all official in nature, they have played a role in promoting non-governmental exchanges between the two countries. CPIK is a project launched by Chinese teachers in Han nationality to improve Chinese education in primary and secondary schools in South Korea. The project was run by government departments but its impact was on the private sector. The Chinese volunteer teachers participating in this project as well as the Korean schools, teachers and Korean students benefited from this project to varying degrees. Since most Chinese teachers who are sent out do not speak Korean, this provides many vivid examples for the study of nonverbal communication.
