2016年5月10日,新加坡李氏基金主席李成义去世,享年95岁。李成义是新加坡著名银行家、华侨银行创始人李光前的长子,著名的爱国华侨领袖、企业家陈嘉庚的外孙。秉承外祖父和先父“取诸社会,用诸社会”的宗旨,李成义毕生致力于公益慈善事业。新加坡李氏基金在其领导下大力支持教育、艺术、医学等领域的发展,其中教育事业更是占了全部捐款总额的75%,受惠人群遍布世界各地。李氏家族与厦门大学渊源深厚。从陈嘉庚创办厦大,到李光前持续多年资助厦大,再到李成义领导的李氏基金多年不辍向厦大慷慨捐赠巨资,可以说,厦大95年来的发展,离不开李氏家族的鼎力相助。
