The effect of continuous water leaching on the engineering and physical properties of the lime-treated expansive clay in central and northern Texas was measured. In a large diameter flexible thin-walled leached cylinder, 70 lime-treated clay samples prepared in the laboratory were subjected to successive leaching of solids for 45 days and 90 days. Physical properties of the soil were measured before and after leaching and then plotted and statistically Analysis of noteworthy changes. The results show that the leaching effect has a detrimental effect on the physical properties of the lime-treated swelling clay. Its nature changes with lime content and initial water content. The permeability of all the samples increased dramatically with the addition of lime. The most harmful changes generally occur when the lime is less than or equal to the optimum value. When the lime content is equal to or greater than the optimum value for lime stabilization, the deleterious effects of the leaching action are minimized or eliminated. The nature of the leaching effect is dependent on the compacted water content associated with the optimum water content.
