“刀笔”是古时书写简牍的工具,笔用来记事,刀用来削误。因为简牍杀青,刮削需刀,在竹简上写字,有误时要用刀刮去重写,古人常常刀笔相随,所以“刀笔”连称。因为办理文书、管理案牍的书吏也离不开刀笔,用笔和刀是书吏的专长,所以被称作“刀笔吏”。即使在普遍用纸的年代,这个代称也依旧流传。近数十年的考古发掘中,长沙左家公山战国墓、信阳战国墓、成都天迥山崖墓都有书刀出土。 “Pen knife ” is a simple tool for writing ancient times, pen is used for notepad, knife used to cut errors.
