Liquid crystal shutter array print head has been successfully developed. The shutter array consists of 2048 shutters with a center-to-center spacing of 100 μm and uses the newly developed ferroelectric liquid crystals that operate at room temperature. In this paper, the electro-optic properties of double-dry mode liquid crystal cells were measured and the structure and driving conditions of the liquid crystal panel suitable for the optical shutter were discussed.
