By convention, dual-processor PCs are often used as workstations for high-intensity computing such as CAD and desktop publishing. However, Dell believes that as Windows 2000 Professional enters the commercial arena, dual processors will become standard on commercial PCs. On February 14, the company introduced its first dual-processor business PC, the OptiPlex GX300. This is partly due to the fact that Windows 2000 Professional requires more robust hardware to achieve the same performance as Windows NT, and Dell recognizes that Windows 2000 can take full advantage of dual-processor performance. An analyst at CSA said that in order for an application to get the same performance on Windows 2000 as it does on Windows NT, the original processor needs to be upgraded for a 15% to 20% performance gain. Although Microsoft announced the Windows 2000 Professional minimum system configuration requirements for the Pentium 133Mhz processor and 64MB of memory, but the number of manufacturers for the commercial PC proposed minimum processor configuration is the Intel Celeron 400Mhz processor, while Dell Also tell their corporate clients them
