美国作为一个历史短暂、文化缺失的国家,却坐拥动画大国的地位,从笔者孩提时代的《米老鼠和唐老鸭》到新近的《料理鼠王》,美国许多的动画作品从故事性、艺术性、技术性上都成为人们耳熟能详的经典,毫不夸张地说,美国的主流动画影响了一代人的成长。上世纪30年代初期,当动画制作开始脱离个体创作,进入以资本为纽带的大生产商业运作模式时,沃特·迪士尼用赛璐珞片进行多层次背景拍摄并以模式化的故事为主要内容的卡通动画,成了动画的主流,而其他风格、形式、技巧的动画制作方式就被推向了非主流的位置。一般而言,主流动画是指以儿童为主要消费对象,具有相对固定模式和文化内涵的动画影片。
