《四庫全書總目》的纂修過程及版本源流是一個相當複雜的問題,近年刊布的天津圖書館藏《總目》殘稿,使學界得以了解此書後期修訂過程的若干關鍵環節。通過對相關修訂内容及館臣批語進行深入分析,本文推斷該稿本很可能是乾隆五十一年為刊刻《總目》而抄繕的一個清本,是專供紀昀等總纂官根據它來審讀刻本清樣時使用的。後來《總目》的刊刻因故中輟,但四庫總纂官仍繼續在這個稿本上進行修訂工作,目前可考的修訂内容,至少已晚至乾隆五十五年七月。 The compiling process and the source of version of Sikuquanshu is a complex issue.
