我国中学语文教材编写史,可谓是惨淡经营,执著追求,在很多方面都取得了一些可喜的成绩。但表面繁荣的背后依然存在着令人不安的隐忧。专就中国现代文学的当代性与入选中学语文教材存在的问题对三省六校的调查结果显示:政治性与工具性因袭的影子犹存,且常常顾此失彼,一叶障目,遮蔽了语文最根本性的人文。“选”与“教”的游离与割裂,故步自封、“盲目排外”、畏首畏尾、自说自话,现代性不足。忽视与学生的主体间性,偏于单边性的技术性操作。学生扁平化,目标功利化,效果物本化。这决定了中学语文现代文学教材的建设与观念仍需更新,改革尚在途中。
