1984年我省引进高赖氨酸玉米中单206,几年试种结果产量接近中单二号,在栽培上适当加大种植密度,产量可达到或略高于中单二号。由于其籽粒赖氨酸和色氨酸含量比普通玉米高1倍以上,用于养猪养禽均取得显著效益。省畜科所养猪试验结果表明,用高赖氨酸玉米养猪比中单二号养的猪增重量提高52.6％,每增重1公斤可节约饲料 0.768公斤。1988全省种植中单206面积在10万亩以上。同年引种鉴定出高赖氨酸玉米新杂交种农大107.中单208分别比中单二号增产2.8％和1.9％,且具有株形好、果穗大、抗病抗倒等特点。
