Objective To explore the influence of self-esteem, social support and coping styles on the resilience of poor college students, and to provide a theoretical basis for helping impoverished college students to improve their resilience. Methods Connor-Davison resilience scale, self-esteem scale, coping style questionnaire and Perceived Social Support Scale were used to measure the resilience of 78 impoverished undergraduates in a university. Multiple regression analysis and path analysis were performed. Results coping styles, self-esteem level of the resilience of poor college students have a significant regression effect. There are three significant paths in the path that affect the resilience of undergraduates: self-esteem → coping style → resilience, social support → coping style → resilience, self-esteem → resilience. Conclusions Coping styles and self-esteem level have a direct impact on resilience of undergraduates, and self-esteem level also indirectly affects resilience through coping style. Social support indirectly affects resilience through coping style. Coping style may be an important mediating variable.
