市井这个词,是市场的意思。在古代,没有商店和农贸中心,商贩们多聚在井边,人们来担水,顺便购物。“若朝聚井汲水,便将货物於井边货卖,故言市井也。”后来有规模了,形成了商业,城里有市,农村也约定俗成有了赶集的集市。另外一种说法是源自井田,依古制,一井为二十亩田,人们在田里干活,贩夫们在田畔守株待兔。第一种解释妥当些,后一种大概是死脑筋又肯用功的读书人瞎猜出来的。本事,指正经事,是本业,对应着末业。中国古代
